You submit a short abstract first. Once it is accepted, you upload the extended abstract or full paper. Both stages run through the Indico event management system.

Abstract

Submit an abstract of 200 to 250 words describing the work you want to present. Say what motivates it, which open-source software it builds on or contributes to, and what the main implications of your results are. Add three to five keywords.

The deadline for abstract submission is 15 February 2027. Acceptance notifications go out on 15 March 2027.

Extended abstract or full paper

Accepted contributions take the form of 2 to 4 page extended abstracts, including figures, tables and references. Papers must be written in English and must follow the OpenSD LaTeX or MS Word template. Please submit the source files alongside the PDF.

The deadline is 15 April 2027, the same day early-bird registration closes.

Work presented at OpenSD centres on open-source software in structural dynamics, either the application of open-source tools in research and practice, or the development and maintenance of open-source packages. Languages other than Python are welcome for conference presentations; the summer school itself is built around the Python ecosystem.

Templates

Both archives contain a worked example, a figures folder and a bibliography file. The LaTeX template also ships the paper document class it depends on, so it compiles without any additional packages.

Submission system

The call for abstracts is open. You submit through the OpenSD2027 event page at indico.opensd-conference.com, which asks you to sign in first.

Review

Abstracts are reviewed by the organising committee together with the session co-organisers, who assess the scientific contribution and the fit with the scope of OpenSD. Submitted work must be original.

For an accepted contribution to appear in the programme, at least one of its authors needs to be registered for the conference.

Presenting your work

Conference talks are given in single-track sessions and are limited to 20 minute slots. Please plan for a shorter talk than that, so there is room for discussion inside the slot.

Presenters are asked to put the OpenSD2027 logo on their title slide. The archive below holds a PowerPoint template and the logo image.
